TBT - Hopefully not this time!

You may remember this post, from when I took the girls shopping and lost the car!

This is a photo from that post

and I am aiming to get another similar one today as we are going shopping to the same shopping center and hopefully I won't loose my car this time.

A layout from April 2013 which features a photo from the shopping trip - love that the girls are still just as good best friends as they were when they first met.

 Reasons to be cheerful:-

1.  A wonderful weekend in Newcastle with Gracia and Josh albeit that 7 hours house cleaning was involved!

2.  My girl is home for a few days before she goes off to Italy for a holiday.

3.  Hannah is also staying for a few days - love having my surrogate daughter here too.

TBT - Perfect Mum

Only 30 hours and she will be in my arms x

This seemed an appropriate Throwback Thursday as very soon I will have her home, albeit for just a week before they go off to France for a holiday.

Reasons to be cheerful:-

1.  She will be home, on and off, until September.

2. They amaze me with how they just think nothing of planning an adventure abroad which involves them sorting out all the travel, hotels and trips to other places, without involving a travel agent.

3. Looking forward to another summer, hopefully, without any major arguments - going for the third in a row!

Well the summer is here and the kids will be on their travels yet again.

This layout from 2012 shows some of their photos from when they went to Europe and some from the UK.

Reasons to be cheerful:

1.  They will be home the weekend after next.

2.  The sun is shining and the birds are singing.

3.  Looking forward to the Rainbow Sleepover - more about that soon!

Joining in with Abi's 1 photo 20 words

I thought I would enjoy making a pretty dress - I didn't and resented the time stolen away from paper crafting!

I then made a layout to remind myself of the lesson learnt!

Thank you Janice for that beautiful sparkly button!

Reasons to be cheerful:-

1.  A good lesson learnt!

2.  Sweet memories of my grandmother teaching me to sew.

3.  Gracia wanting me to help her make a dress in the summer hols - now that is a project I will enjoy.

New Year New You - May Edition

15:21 Karen 4 Comments

I really can't believe that it's June, already. This year has just sped by so fast and on the Saturday of the last Bank Holiday weekend it was the event that had spurred me on to starting my get fit and slimmer regime. The 'wedding of the year'.  If you recall I had been to my niece Amy's wedding in April 2011 and had hated how I looked in my dress, how I looked in my facinator, how I looked in the photos in fact I just was really unhappy with how I looked.  The photos showed a matronly looking woman who bore no resemblance to the one I thought I would see! (no photos to illustrate this you will notice - I still struggle to look at them let alone print them out)

I was determined that when Tom and Samantha got married I would have photos I would be proud of - was pleased with how I looked but took hardly any photos.  When the big day arrived I was not as fit and as slim as I wanted to be but was pleased with the progress so far. I wanted to look glamorous on the day so decided to have false nails.

My nails are normally very short and not at all beautiful. I loved the new nails for about a day but then found that the got in the way as they were so alien to my every day life.

So after a couple of days they were removed and I was back to may normal short stubby nailed self!

Notice the slight green tinge around the nail of my longest finger - glimmer mist from yesterday's crop and I got quite a lot all over both my hands  AND I managed to not have a melt down because my  hands were green - so progress there too!

Reasons to be cheerful:-

1.  A wonderful day yesterday crafting with good friends.

2.  Attending the best wedding I have ever been to (excluding mine)!

3.  Slowly but surely turning back into the woman I want to be.

TBT - Cheeky Geeks

06:00 Karen 8 Comments

By the time this post goes live Gracia will have finished her second year at med school and Josh will have finished his Zoology degree. What a scary thought! I am glad to report that 'The Girl Did Good' passing her second year and is rearing to get onto a year working in a hospital. If what people who have done the course say is true the second year is the worse year so I hope she is able to enjoy her next three. Gracia is looking forward to a long summer without any revision and to moving into the house with two of her three best med friends so it looks like September is going to be an exciting time.

There are so many things I love about this layout - the photos and how happy the two of them look - the fact that Josh is comfortable lounging about in our house in his pj's.  I love the conversations that we have and that they are happy in their joint geekieness.  I love that they embrace my love of scrapbooking and willingly give me photo ops and ideas - Josh has even been known to suggest a photo and then come up with the title for a layout using the photo.  I love that Gracia confesses to have a favourite element and that they have used their love for science over the past three years at Uni.

Reasons to be cheerful:

1.  Study is over for a while and the kids can now enjoy a summer of fun.

2.  They will be home in a few weeks.

3.  The geekiness of these two fill my little heart with joy.
